Graphic Design Competition

JTED@FW's top designers traveled to Pima Community College for the Tucson Area High School Graphic Design Championships. Our team of Nate, Jonah and Griselda made some quality work and came in 4th place overall.

Grace Dalrymple was elected one of three Arizona Association of Student Council State Presidents. Congratulations Grace. 


JROTC Rifle Team Wins State Nomination

Congratulations to the JROTC Rifle team for winning the State nomination to the Civilian Marksmanship National Championships in Salt Lake City, UT this coming March. What is even more incredible is that our JV team placed 3rd overall! Go CABS.

ILS Social Club Students Donate Items to Men's Transition Shelter

ILS Social Club Students collected hygiene items to donate to a men's transition shelter.  Jessica Howe, a teacher from Homer Davis Elementary, received the items to be delivered to the shelter.

JROTC Rifle Team Wins Sate Fall Final

Congratulations to the JROTC Rifle Team for winning the State Fall final event, The Governors Cup on Saturday, November 19th. The team beat the top 15 teams from across the state and established themselves as the #1 ranked team in Arizona!

Dream It, Be It Leaders

The following five students of our sophomore Dream It, Be It leaders: Yasmine Martinez, Rachel Alvord, Kendra Sanchez, Issabella Luna, and Kiana Emmons went to a local Soroptimist chapter anniversary celebration and represented FW as the only high school club associated with Soroptimist in Tucson. They shook hands and stood and spoke briefly about what being a part of the club means to them. They acted as wonderful ambassadors for Flowing Wells High School!

Advanced Culinary

Advanced Culinary traveled to the Tucson Country Club on September 29th for A Tavola, an etiquette training program. We learned how to mingle, make conversation at a party, set a table and fold napkins. We also ate a fabulous three course meal and had a chance to dress our best!

Sonoran Desert Learning Trip

AP Environmental Students traveled south to the Santa Rita Experimental Range on Tuesday 9/20 with science educators from the Ironwood Tree Experience to learn about the Sonoran Desert and field data collection techniques, including plant transects and bird point counts.

FW Students Win AZ Auto Student Challenge

Steven Upton and Natasha Alday won the Arizona Auto Student Challenge. Both earned $1,200.00 scholarships and another $1,200.00 in tools. Natasha is the first female, non-traditional student to win this competition. Great job and congratulations!

Mt. Lemmon Sky School

A select group of 36 science-minded students enjoyed four days of scientific inquiry at the top of Mt. Lemmon at the Mt. Lemmon Sky School! Research projects varied from analyzing ecotones, measuring CO2 output in cement manufacturing, examining parasitic mistletoe, and comparing water quality in natural springs. Students loved the opportunity to view the night sky through multiple telescopes in the evening!

FFA Students Place at Pima County Fair

Four Flowing Wells FFA students participated in the Pima County Fair and had a great showing!

JTED Graphic Design Skills Day

Congratulations to our graphic design students for an excellent performance at Eastern Arizona College Skills Day! Three students traveled to Thatcher to compete in a variety of creative challenges and came away with a variety of awards:

JROTC Drill Team Places 3rd at State Competition

The drill team competed with 32 other schools at the AZ State High School Competition at Alahambra High School.

  • Armed Drill Team took 3rd Place in Armed Regulation
  • Armed Four Person took 2nd Place 

Flowing Wells High School took 3rd place over all in the state. Awesome job!

FWHS Economic Team Places 5th

FWHS Economic Team Places 5thOn April 8, FW competed in the Arizona State Finals of the Economics Challenge at Mesa Community College. This is part of a national competition sponsored by the National Council on Economics Education. The FW team, Ethan Burch, Kirk Davis, Michael Jurado, and Benjamin Bussey placed 5th in the finance challenge and did not place in the top ten top division of the economics challenge. We were the top regular public school in the competition. Other schools represented were University High School, Seton Catholic, several basis campuses, and many other schools from around Arizona. The advisors from each team competed in the teacher challenge, which was for candy and unscored. Mr. Klein won candy for Flowing Wells.

Fashion Design Students Medal at State Conference

The Flowing Wells fashion chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently attended the spring leadership conference at Westin La Paloma resort in Tucson. FCCLA is the national student organization for students enrolled in family and consumer science courses. Sixteen fashion students competed in STAR events, Arizona proficiency events, and attended leadership workshops during the three-day conference.

Nine students were named national contenders and will be traveling to San Diego July 2-8, 2016 to attend the FCCLA National Leadership Conference and to compete for national medals.

Flowing Wells Color Guard

The Flowing Wells Color Guard had the honor to present the colors at the Wounded Warrior GT-500 nationwide tour. 

The car is on a nationwide tour, named the “High Five Tour,” representing the Wounded Warriors Family Support Organization. The tour is going to accept donations for our wounded warriors. 

The car is a GT-500 Super Snake wide-body Mustang, built in Las Vegas by Shelby. It has 850 horsepower and many of other special equipment. The car has a complete body wrap which looks like the American Flag and it is very beautiful to see.
