Arizona Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs

Arizona business and industry leaders and educational leaders have defined Professional Skills and Technical Skills that are critical to getting and keeping a job, as well as advancing in a career.

Professional Skill Standards are competencies required to succeed in any workplace: communication; collaboration; thinking and innovation; professionalism; initiative and self-direction; intergenerational and cross-cultural competence; organizational culture; legal and ethical practices; and financial practices. Professional skill development is embedded in all CTE programs.
Technical Skill Standards for each program, developed by a committee of related industry members, align standards with recognized industry certifications, credentials, or licenses. These standards guide program specific curriculum and instruction.
